Tutor Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals who have the time and personal commitment to contribute to our organization. LVA provides the training and continued support of our volunteers so no teaching experience is required.
Tutor responsibilities:
After completing our required tutor training workshop, our volunteer tutors work with the same student one on one. We ask you to meet one to two mornings or evenings each week.
Training:
All volunteers participate in a training program that prepares them to work efficiently with our students. Our ESOL (English for Speakers of other languages) and Basic Literacy Training involves approximately 12 hours of instruction. We offer training throughout the year at various sites and schedules.
